Thank you for your interest in Little Creek
My name is Wendy Butler and I am the owner of
Through the course of getting Little Creek
to the internet, my web mentor urged me to learn to code "pure" HTML in a text editor -
such as Notepad, as opposed to relying on a web editor to do the coding for me. She
told me that it would help me to keep my code simple and that I would gain a better
understanding of how to solve any problems that might arise on the pages that I
would design. She was right. I still continue to write my code "from scratch" in
Notepad because I like the control it gives me over the appearance and
function of the pages I create.
I do have experience with various web editors
such as Adobe Page Mill, Microsoft's FrontPage and shareware
editors such as Arachnophilia. I have found that they don't allow me the
design freedom and satisfaction that writing my own code in HTML gives me.
I have been creating computer graphics and
doing graphic design since 1989. Through the course of my professional career I
have worked in research, news and advertising. Good communication skills were
an integral part of each of these jobs. It was a natural progression to put these
skills to work in web site design and development.
The first computer that I used was a 386/25 with a
DOS based operating system. My software of choice back in those days
was Z Soft's PaintBrush because of the small file size it generated. Now,
most of our Little Creek print and web graphics are created with the help of top of the
line non-proprietary software programs: CorelDRAW, Adobe Illustrator,
Adobe PhotoShop, and Jasc's PaintShop Pro. Learning and utilizing
the earliest versions of these packages to create our graphics helped us to become
proficient with the subsequent versions, as you may see in both our web pages and
original graphics. Web site design is still a wonderfully satisfying combination
of the graphic, programming and economic worlds.
