Thursday — 1/15/04 (Martin Luther King's real birthday.)
Juanita Westbrook will portray Alice Smith, a waitress in Reno clubs during the 1940s and a founder of the Reno-Sparks chapter of the NAACP. This is the inspirational story of her experiences with Reno Racism in the 40s, 50s and 60s and her efforts to gain equal rights for all. This event is sponsored by the Nevada Humanities Committee.

Welcome hunters and dog owners to The 2nd Annual Big Meadows Upland Bird Championships! $1,000 Top prize for Pointing. Top 3 spots paid out limited to 36 teams. $1,000 Top prize for Flushing. Top 3 spots paid out limited to 36 teams. Entries: $150 per team for Qualifying*   $100 per team for Finals*    Free contestant dinner and calcutta auction Saturday, February 14th, at Sturgeon's Center Club in Lovelock. Drawing for a Shotgu, Hunting Vest, Pheasant Hunt and Door prizes. Come help us find out who has the "Top Dog" in each division.
*The Big Meadows Upland Bird Championship reserves the right to restructure any and all purses and prizes according to entries. Entry forms and a map to the shoot locations may be downloaded from the Big Meadows web site. Please note that the winning hunter will also be notified by mail.

Pershing County 4-H/FFA Livestock Judging Invitational

4-H and FFA members from around the state are invited to judge 2 classes each of beef, sheep, swine and goats. Reasons will be given. Concession stand available. Awards sponsored by Pershing County 4-H and FFA.

Pershing County Arts Council sponsors
"Brigham Young University International Folk Dance Ensemble"

Friday — 3/12/04
For more than thirty years, this ensemble of 40 musicians, singers, and dancers has performed in concerts and festivals throughout the world and was the only performing group invited to represent the United States at the Summer Olympic Games in Seoul, Korea. With authentic costumes, they will present dances from more than a dozen cultures. Audiences might be familiar with the Riverdance Irish style, American clogging, and Cossack dancing, but will also experience other less known types such as the Hungarian slap dance.
