- AFHRA - www.maxwell.af.mil
The Air Force Historical Research Agency is the repository for Air Force historical
documents. The Agency's collection, begun in Washington, DC, during World War II, moved in
1949 to Maxwell Air Force Base to provide research facilities for professional military education
students, the faculty, visiting scholars, and the general public.
- The Society for Military History - smh-hq.org
Established in 1933 as the American Military History Foundation, renamed in 1939 the
American Military Institute, and renamed again in 1990 the Society for Military History, the
Society is devoted to stimulating and advancing the study of military history. Its membership
(today more than 2300) has included many of the nation's most prominent scholars, soldiers,
and citizens interested in military history.
- NARA - www.nara.gov
"The National Archives is a public trust on which our democracy depends. We enable
people to inspect for themselves the record of what government has done. We enable officials
and agencies to review their actions and help citizens hold them accountable."
- The Access to Archival Databases (AAD) System - http://aad.archives.gov/aad/title_list.jsp.
AAD gives you online access to electronic records that are highly structured, such as
in databases. The initial release of AAD contains material from more than 30 archival series
of electronic records, which include over 350 data files totaling well over 50 million unique
records. The series selected for AAD identify specific persons, geographic areas, organizations,
or dates. Some of these series serve as indexes to accessioned archival records in non-electronic
formats. The AAD system does not, however, support quantitative or statistical analysis of data.
- ArmyAirForces.com - www.armyairforces.com
ArmyAirForces.com's purpose is to provide the information that you need to research
the USAAF of W.W.II. Three major features help accomplish this, 1) our database of all
combat units, based off of Maurer's data, 2) a comprehensive forum system, 3) and our
research help page.
