March 4, 1945: Szombathely Cathedral Project

This website has been established to furnish information about the events of March 4, 1945 when Allied Forces during World War Two unintentionally bombed the Szombathely Cathedral.
The following pages contain information that has been obtained from U.S. Air Force records and microfilm archives both here in the United States and in Szombathely, Hungary.
These .pdf files will document the events of this Sunday in 1945. The files will require "Adobe Acrobat Reader©" and this software can be downloaded to your PC by clicking on the button below.
The attached links will carry a short description of the contents, and will be followed by two .pdf files (English and Hungarian). Click on the desired version for your reading. There may be some minor differences in layout of text between the two versions, the original layout of the historical documents being in English.
This site will be updated with additional information (as yet to be discovered, as well as existing documents now held here that require translation from bilingual visitors to this website, whose assistance would be welcomed) that will direct your attention to the period of Reconstruction and the day of Rededication (September 7, 1947).

Ennek a honlapnak az a célja, hogy információt szolgáltasson az 1945. március 4.-i eseményekről, amikor a Szövetségesek véletlenül bombákat ejtettek a Szombathely-i Székesegyházra a második világháború folyamán.
A következő oldalak olyan adatokat tartalmaznak, amelyek az Amerikai Légierő dokumentumaiból és az Egyesült államokban és Magyarországon gyüjtött mikrofilm gyüjteményekből származnak.
A .pdf formátumu fájlok dokumentálni fogják ezt az 1945- ös vasárnapot. Ezeknek a fájloknak a kinyitásához az "Adobe Acrobat Reader©" programra van szükség, amelyet a lap alján található gombra való kattintással lehet letölteni.
